A culinary, design and architectural experience
When we go to a restaurant obviously the most important thing is the quality of the food and how they serve you. That is why it becomes a delight when a place strives to provide not only a food service, but a visual experience where eating becomes a pleasure. Then, it becomes fundamental the architecture and interior design of the space where we go as diners, so that more than just appreciate with the palate, we also do it with the rest of our senses.
But first things first. Let's remember that Mosaico Restaurant is located on the first floor of the Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell, a boutique hotel located at 145 SW 11th Street, Brickell, which is part of the financial district of the city, where architect Salvador Mitrani was in charge of designing this building, cleverly incorporating the stories of the neighborhood that has hosted Latin, Spanish, Native American and mixed cultures.
Inside, lies this corner of visual wonders that we know as Mosaico Kitchen + Bar, which benefited from the interior design by Angel Sanchez of Sanchez and Coleman and Mitrani himself, who, with his 35 year old architectural firm, Novus Archetype, imbued a highly detailed design with the utmost aesthetic integrity. Angel, of Venezuelan origin, is considered one of the most recognized Latin fashion designers in the world, and managed to imbue his passion for those small details that generate visual magic.
Mosaico Kitchen + Bar has an interior design based on brutalism, that is to say, the raw materials or concrete are presented in clean work. This form of design, developed in the decade of the fifties to sixties, today takes a new boom showing wide, spacious and diaphanous spaces. The interior reproduction of the exterior spaces with predominantly straight lines. The constructive elements will be in sight. Concrete dominates as a material, although not as the only material, we will also find steel, glass, wood, but usually raw.
The design is contrasted with a rich variety of vibrant colors, between blues, yellows, just creating a mosaic that runs through each space of the restaurant, which is incorporated into its environment with a rich fusion of nature, foliage and natural greens that can be seen with the outside light of the place.
Mosaico, both in its architecture and design, also makes a tribute to the history of the first inhabitants of Brickell (Miami), which was the indigenous people of Tequesta, who lived in the area for more than 2,000 years and that today merge with the multiple cultures and the cosmopolitan life of this great city.
